ANDREW TATE FACES FRESH ROMANIAN INDICTMENT OVER ALLEGED MINOR TRAFFICKING AND MONEY LAUNDERING

British-American influencer Andrew Tate has been formally indicted by Romanian prosecutors in a new criminal case involving allegations of trafficking a minor, money laundering, sexual acts with a minor and attempts to influence witness statements.

His brother, Tristan Tate, has also been indicted in the case, facing allegations including complicity in trafficking a minor, money laundering and attempting to influence witness testimony. The new indictment represents another major development in the long-running legal proceedings surrounding the brothers in Romania.

Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism, known as DIICOT, brought the new case after continuing investigations into the brothers' activities. According to prosecutors, the alleged offences are connected to the exploitation of a minor and the handling of money believed to have been generated from that exploitation.

Prosecutors allege that Andrew Tate was involved in trafficking a minor and had sexual relations with a minor, while also using financial transactions and luxury assets as part of an alleged money-laundering operation. Investigators reportedly believe more than $1.25 million was generated from the alleged exploitation and subsequently laundered.

The indictment also contains allegations relating to witness interference. Romanian prosecutors accuse the brothers of attempting to influence statements connected to the investigation, adding another layer to the criminal proceedings.

The latest case follows years of investigations into the Tates in Romania. The brothers were previously indicted in 2023 on allegations including human trafficking, rape and forming an organised criminal group to sexually exploit women. A Romanian appeals court later returned that earlier case to prosecutors after ruling that the indictment contained procedural and evidentiary problems.

Romanian prosecutors subsequently expanded their investigations to include allegations involving minors, money laundering and attempts to influence witnesses. In May 2026, authorities also added allegations involving the instigation of hatred and discrimination against women to the broader investigation.

The latest indictment comes while Andrew and Tristan Tate are being held in the United States. They were arrested in Florida in July 2026 after British authorities sought their extradition over separate allegations in the United Kingdom. Andrew Tate faces rape-related charges in Britain, while both brothers have denied the allegations against them.

The Romanian proceedings could therefore continue alongside the brothers' extradition battle in the United States. Romanian prosecutors may seek to advance the case even while the brothers remain outside the country, with their lawyers expected to challenge the latest allegations and the legal basis of the proceedings.

The Tates have consistently rejected the accusations made against them and have criticised the Romanian legal process. Their lawyers maintain that the brothers have been subjected to an unfair prosecution and dispute the allegations contained in the new indictment.

The latest development adds to an increasingly complicated series of criminal investigations and legal proceedings involving the controversial online influencers across Romania, Britain and the United States. However, the allegations contained in the indictment have yet to be established in court, and the brothers remain legally presumed innocent unless convicted.
