ANGLICAN BISHOP URGES FG TO ADDRESS NIGERIANS’ ECONOMIC HARDSHIP

An Anglican bishop has urged the Federal Government to acknowledge the hardship facing Nigerians and take urgent steps to ease the economic pressure on citizens. The cleric said the worsening cost of living was affecting households across the country and should not be ignored by those in authority.

The bishop stressed that many Nigerians were struggling to meet their basic needs as the prices of food, transportation and other essential goods and services continued to rise. He called on the government to pay greater attention to the realities faced by ordinary citizens rather than dismissing concerns about the economy.

He also urged the Federal Government to strengthen policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians, particularly vulnerable households and low-income earners. According to him, government interventions should go beyond promises and produce tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens.

The cleric said addressing poverty, unemployment and insecurity should remain key priorities for the government, noting that prolonged economic hardship could deepen frustration among Nigerians. He appealed to leaders at all levels to listen to the concerns of the people and take practical measures to improve their living conditions.

He further called for greater accountability and responsible governance, stressing that the government must recognise the difficulties confronting Nigerians and work towards building an economy that provides opportunities and a better standard of living for citizens.
