ANSU FATI SEALS LOAN MOVE TO MONACO IN BID TO RELAUNCH CAREER
Spanish forward Ansu Fati has completed a season-long loan move to AS Monaco from Barcelona, with the Ligue 1 side holding an option to buy for €11 million ($13 million). The deal, confirmed on Tuesday, offers the 22-year-old a fresh opportunity to get his career back on track after a difficult spell marred by injuries and inconsistent form.
Fati becomes Monaco’s third summer signing, joining Eric Dier and Paul Pogba, both signed on free transfers. All three will be officially unveiled to the press on Thursday.
Once hailed as one of Barcelona’s brightest talents, Fati made his senior debut at the age of 16 and has since made 123 appearances, scoring 29 goals and winning two La Liga titles (2023, 2025) and two Copa del Rey trophies.
He also featured for Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and played a part in their 2023 UEFA Nations League victory, earning 11 caps and scoring two goals for his country.
However, recent years have seen Fati struggle with form and fitness. After a frustrating 2023–24 loan spell at Brighton, where he managed just 4 goals in 27 appearances, and a 2024–25 season with only 11 games and no goals due to injuries, the move to Monaco represents a chance to reset and prove himself again.
According to reports, Barcelona will cover a significant portion of Fati’s salary, but could benefit financially from a potential resale should Monaco exercise the buy option and later sell him at a profit.
For Fati, this move to the French Riviera is about more than just minutes on the pitch — it’s a chance to rediscover his spark and revive a career that once promised greatness. With Monaco investing in talent and rebuilding under a fresh vision, the stage may be set for the young star to shine again
