APC ADOPTS KEBBI GOV FOR SECOND TERM
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for a second term after emerging as the party’s sole candidate in a unanimous affirmation by delegates from all 225 wards across the state.
The affirmation exercise, held on Thursday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, turned into a show of support for the governor, popularly known as “Kauran Gwandu,” as party members endorsed him ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Abdulmalik Mahmud, said the exercise was largely procedural, noting that party members had already reached a consensus before the formal process.
“Our work here is very simple because the people of Kebbi, especially APC members, have already decided,” Mahmud said.
He added that the presence of delegates from all 225 wards reflected strong internal party unity and confidence in the governor’s leadership.
“Having satisfied all the requirements of the party and the law, I hereby declare Gov. Nasir Idris as the governorship flagbearer of the APC in Kebbi,” he announced.
Earlier, the Kebbi APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, also confirmed that all wards unanimously endorsed the governor for a second term.
“All the 225 wards in Kebbi unanimously agreed to return Kauran Gwandu as the party’s flagbearer,” he said.
Governor Idris, in his acceptance speech, described the endorsement as a renewed mandate and pledged to deepen development efforts across the state.
“I am happy that our people have collectively said they trust us and want us to continue,” he said.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, and party stakeholders for their support, promising an inclusive administration that prioritises all communities.
“I cannot do it alone. With your continued support, we will make Kebbi a model of prosperity in Nigeria,” the governor added.
