APC BEGINS ZONAL ELECTIONS AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S NATIONAL CONVENTION
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced its zonal elections as part of preparations for the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for Saturday.
Party leaders and delegates gathered across the six geopolitical zones on Thursday to elect key zonal executives who will oversee the party’s affairs at the regional level. The elections are a crucial step in the build-up to the national convention, where major decisions about the party’s leadership and structure are expected to be made.
Officials of the ruling party said the zonal congresses are aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring broad representation across the country. The exercise is being monitored by party officials and observers to ensure transparency and adherence to party guidelines.
In several zones, party stakeholders expressed optimism that the process would promote unity and consolidate the APC’s structure ahead of future elections. Some leaders also used the occasion to call for cooperation among members and urged aspirants and delegates to uphold the party’s principles.
The outcomes of the zonal elections will determine those who will serve in various regional leadership positions, including zonal chairpersons, secretaries, and other executive roles.
Party officials noted that the successful conduct of the zonal elections would set the stage for the national convention, where delegates from across the country are expected to converge to deliberate on key issues affecting the party.
The APC leadership has assured members that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and orderly convention on Saturday.
