The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has unveiled a 156-member campaign council to coordinate its activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor Dapo Abiodun named chairman. The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, will serve as co-chairman, while former Senator Lekan Mustapha has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council.

Former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun have also been given prominent roles in the campaign structure. Osoba, a former governor and national leader of the party, was named grand patron, while Daniel and Amosun will serve as deputy grand patrons. Their inclusion brings together several influential figures with political experience in the state as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 elections.

Other members of the campaign leadership include Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, who were appointed deputy chairmen. State party chairman Yemi Sanusi was named vice-chairman, while Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi and Minister of State for Health Kunle Salako were assigned senior roles covering campaign operations and administration.

The campaign council is expected to coordinate the party’s mobilisation and election activities across Ogun State’s 20 local government areas. Different committees will handle responsibilities including grassroots mobilisation, media and publicity, logistics, stakeholder engagement, youth mobilisation and women’s participation. The structure is intended to give the party a coordinated framework for its campaign as political activities increase ahead of the elections.

Sanusi urged members of the campaign council to work collectively towards achieving the party’s objectives across the state. The APC is expected to use the newly constituted team to strengthen its grassroots structures and coordinate its campaigns for the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections scheduled for 2027.
