Two arrested over abduction of 38-year-old man in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali. The police said they are assisting investigators with information that could help unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred at Layeri Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, and was reported to the police on September 24, 2026.

Preliminary investigations showed that three armed men allegedly entered Peter’s room at about 4:20 a.m. and abducted him from his residence.

The assailants reportedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest with a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone.

Following the report, police operatives commenced an investigation and arrested the two suspects as part of efforts to identify other individuals connected to the incident.

The police said the arrests had provided useful leads and that investigations were ongoing.

The command, working with other security agencies, said it had intensified efforts to secure the safe rescue of the victim and apprehend other suspects still at large.

The police also urged residents of affected communities to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the investigation and efforts to ensure the safety of residents.
