The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given a strong assurance that the forthcoming governorship primary election in Kwara State will be free, fair, and credible.

The assurance was given by the APC National Working Committee’s special subcommittee on the Kwara governorship primary during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The committee emphasised that every aspirant would be given a level playing field and warned against any form of manipulation, intimidation, or imposition of candidates.

“We want to make it very clear that the primary will be transparent. No one will be allowed to hijack the process. The will of the majority of delegates will prevail,” the committee chairman stated.

Several notable politicians are currently interested in the APC ticket for the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State. The committee urged all aspirants and their supporters to play by the rules and avoid actions that could cause division within the party.

Party leaders described the assurance as timely, especially as tension has been rising within APC ranks in the state. Many believe a fair primary will help the party maintain strong unity ahead of the general election.

The APC currently controls Kwara State and is determined to retain power in 2027. Stakeholders say a credible primary process will boost the party’s chances and public confidence.
