APC CONFIDENT IN INEC, DISMISSES KWANKWASO’S MONITORING REMARKS
The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed comments by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, who said his party would closely monitor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking on Sunday, APC Kano Public Relations Officer, Hon. Ahmad Aruwa, described Kwankwaso’s statements as “confusing and unnecessary,” asserting that the NNPP leader is out of touch with current Nigerian politics. He questioned Kwankwaso’s authority, noting that he is neither a legitimate party leader nor a candidate in any election.
Aruwa emphasized that APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have finalized arrangements to secure victory in Kano State. “Our former governor, Ganduje, has been fully briefed and is satisfied with the arrangements. APC is satisfied with INEC so far. President Tinubu is bringing professionals to every position. We have confidence in INEC and believe they will do justice to everyone,” he said.
The APC spokesperson also accused Kwankwaso of undermining public confidence in the electoral process, asserting that such remarks are politically motivated.
Kwankwaso, speaking at the NNPP national convention in Abuja on Saturday, had praised INEC’s role in safeguarding democracy and said his party would monitor its activities ahead of the 2027 elections. “Its job is so critical that it can make or mar democracy in this country,” he stated.
Aruwa, however, maintained that APC remains confident in the professionalism of INEC and urged Nigerians to trust the commission’s ability to conduct free and fair elections.
