The All Progressives Congress has donated N52 million to survivors and families of the 37 miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State.
Niger State Governor Umaru Bago disclosed this on Tuesday when he received the APC National Working Committee, led by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, during a condolence visit over the incident.
Bago thanked the party leadership for the visit and financial assistance, saying a state committee led by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, would work with the Emir of Minna, Farouk Bahago, to ensure the funds reach the intended beneficiaries.
Yilwatda expressed the party’s condolences to the government and people of Niger State, describing the incident as a difficult period for the state, which has also faced several security challenges.
He assured the governor of the party’s support and commended his handling of the incident.
The APC delegation later visited the palace of the Emir of Minna for another condolence visit. The Emir thanked the party leadership for the financial support to the affected families.
