The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has thrown its weight behind former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, following his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. The forum expressed confidence that Yari has the political reach and experience required to help President Bola Tinubu secure re-election.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the forum congratulated Yari as well as two other North-Central members appointed to the campaign council, James Faleke and Okpokwu Ogenyi. Faleke was named Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, while Ogenyi was appointed North-Central Coordinator.

The group described Yari as a widely accepted politician with strong connections across the North, saying his relationships with political, traditional and religious leaders could help strengthen the APC's campaign structure ahead of the 2027 polls. It also pointed to his previous experience in party administration and grassroots mobilisation as key advantages.

The forum said Yari's appointment was not unexpected, noting that the senator had already been involved in mobilising support for Tinubu's second-term bid through the Renewed Hope Network, a grassroots political mobilisation platform. It urged APC stakeholders across the North-Central region to support the campaign council and work together towards the President's re-election.

The North-Central APC Forum further pledged its support for the campaign and said it would work with Ogenyi and other party leaders to mobilise six million votes for Tinubu across the North-Central region in the 2027 election. The group also expressed confidence that the appointments of Yari, Faleke and Ogenyi would strengthen the party's electoral preparations.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West in the Senate, previously served as governor of Zamfara State and held several positions within the party system. His appointment as campaign council Director-General places him at the centre of the APC's preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the party expected to intensify its grassroots mobilisation efforts in the months ahead.
