APC STAKEHOLDERS BACK OGUN LAWMAKER’S FOURTH TERM BID
Members of the All Progressives Congress in Imeko-Afon have endorsed Jemili Akingbade, popularly known as Kowe, for a fourth term in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was made on Friday at the APC secretariat in Imeko-Afon, where party stakeholders also confirmed him as the consensus candidate for the constituency.
Two other aspirants, Olalotan Olusegun and Aliu Onsa, withdrew from the race during the meeting, saying they stepped down in obedience to the party’s leadership directive and in the interest of unity.
Olusegun, a former APC local government chairman, said the decision was taken to strengthen the party and support collective progress over personal ambition.
Party leaders also dismissed a previously circulated communiqué opposing the arrangement, insisting that the consensus decision reflected the official position of the party structure in the area.
In a resolution read at the gathering, the APC Ketu Zone described Akingbade as a loyal party member and grassroots mobiliser, adding that his candidacy represents continuity, equity, and electoral strength for the party.
Stakeholders also directed ward executives, youth, and women leaders to fully mobilise support for Akingbade and other APC candidates ahead of the general elections.
The party further reaffirmed support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s leadership and pledged backing for key APC figures contesting various positions in the 2027 electoral cycle.
