APC TO MARAFA: YOU CAN’T INFLUENCE TINUBU’S VOTES, STILL BITTER OVER DEFEAT
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, dismissing his claims of delivering one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 election.
In a statement on Wednesday, APC state chairman, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani, described Marafa’s comments as “empty boasting,” insisting that Tinubu’s victory in Zamfara was secured through the party’s structures and respected leaders — not by Marafa.
“The truth is that Marafa was voted out of the Senate by his own constituents in 2019, and he has yet to recover from that political defeat,” Danfulani said.
He added that Marafa could not even win elections in his own constituency, let alone claim credit for Tinubu’s statewide support. According to him, the real credit goes to party leaders like Bello Matawalle and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, whose leadership delivered results at the polls.
Danfulani also dismissed Marafa’s recent threats to withhold votes in 2027, describing them as baseless.
“It is laughable that Marafa, who could not win even his ward or local government, now claims he has the power to reduce Tinubu’s votes,” he said.
The APC chairman accused Marafa of being frustrated after failing to win elections or secure appointments in the current administration.
He urged party members to ignore the former senator’s remarks, pointing to APC’s recent victory in the Kaura Namoda South bye-election as proof of its continued strength in Zamfara.
“His utterances are just frustration. Ordinarily, if not because he spoke against the President in an uncivilised manner, we would not have responded to a rejected politician like him,” Danfulani concluded.
