APC WINS ALL 17 YOBE LG CHAIRMANSHIP SEATS

The All Progressives Congress has won all 17 chairmanship positions in the Yobe State local government elections.

The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, following the election conducted across the state’s 17 local government areas on September 26.

The commission’s chairman, Ibrahim Yabani, said voting took place across 178 electoral wards, with 10 political parties participating in the election.

He explained that councillorship results were declared at the ward level, while chairmanship results were announced at the respective local government collation centres.

The APC candidates emerged winners in all 17 local government areas, including Bade, Bursari, Damaturu, Fika, Fune, Geidam, Gujba, Gulani, Jakusko, Karasuwa, Machina, Nangere, Nguru, Potiskum, Tarmuwa, Yunusari and Yusufari.

Yabani said the electoral commission’s role was to announce the results declared at the various collation centres.
