APM CRITICISES OKPEBHOLO OVER UK FUEL PRICE COMPARISON

The Allied Peoples Movement has criticised Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo over his comparison of petrol prices in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, said comparing petrol prices between the two countries without considering differences in income levels and purchasing power was inappropriate.

Okpebholo had spoken on September 24 during the “Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road” event, saying petrol sold for about N3,000 per litre in the UK when converted to naira, compared with the lower price in Nigeria.

The APM argued that the purchasing power of workers in both countries was significantly different and should be considered when comparing fuel prices.

The party also criticised the current cost of petrol in Nigeria and called for measures to reduce the burden on citizens.

The APM further urged Nigerians to consider its political platform ahead of the 2027 election.
