ARCON TO HONOUR ADVERTISING INDUSTRY PLAYERS
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria has announced plans to honour outstanding professionals, brands, institutions and influencers who have contributed to the growth of the advertising industry.
The recognition will take place at the 2026 ARCON Special Recognition Awards scheduled for October 23, with awards covering four major categories: Advertising Compliance, Public Sector Recognition, Private Sector Recognition and Individual Recognition.
ARCON Director-General, Olalekan Fadolapo, said the council expanded the awards beyond compliance with advertising standards to recognise wider contributions to the industry.
Chairman of the awards planning committee, Yinka Adebayo, said 16 awards would be presented under the compliance category to advertisers, brands and practitioners that demonstrate strong adherence to advertising regulations.
The awards will also recognise public institutions and officials for effective communication, stakeholder engagement and social impact initiatives.
Influencers will receive particular attention, with ARCON noting their growing role in public communication and increasing engagement by government agencies.
The private sector category will recognise achievements in areas including brand innovation, consumer engagement, sponsorship marketing, corporate social responsibility and creative use of culture.
Nominations opened on August 31 and will close on September 13. Shortlisted nominees will undergo further assessment, while voting for applicable categories is scheduled to begin on September 20.
ARCON said the initiative is aimed at promoting professionalism, responsible advertising and greater recognition of contributions to Nigeria’s marketing communications industry.
