ARDOVA, APM TERMINALS DEPLOY TECH TO BOOST PORT EFFICIENCY

Ardova Plc has entered into a strategic partnership with APM Terminals, Apapa, to improve maintenance efficiency and lubricant management at one of Nigeria’s busiest maritime facilities.

The company announced in a statement on Tuesday that the collaboration is aimed at strengthening operational reliability at the Apapa terminal, regarded as the largest container terminal in West Africa.

The initiative is being implemented through the deployment of the Modern Pulse Central Lubrication Dispensing System, developed in collaboration with Shell. The automated system replaces manual lubrication processes with a closed-loop digital network that enables real-time monitoring and precise distribution of lubricants across heavy-duty port equipment such as cranes and reach stackers.

According to the partners, the technology is designed to reduce product losses, improve safety standards, and shorten equipment servicing time, thereby improving overall port efficiency.

They added that the system also enhances inventory control and reduces downtime associated with manual handling errors, supporting 24-hour port operations critical to Nigeria’s import and export activities.

The collaboration brings together Ardova Plc, APM Terminals Apapa, and Shell Lubricants, with senior representatives from all three organisations present at the deployment engagement.

APM Terminals Apapa, a key gateway for Nigeria’s maritime trade, continues to handle a significant share of containerised cargo in and out of the country.

The companies said the partnership reflects a broader shift toward smart port operations, aimed at modernising infrastructure and improving productivity within Nigeria’s logistics and maritime sector.
