Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has stirred reactions online after sharing photos of herself dressed like a mad woman ahead of her birthday.

Explaining the reason behind the striking images, the Yoruba actress said they represent what life exposed her to in her late 20s and how circumstances tried to shape her. She noted that while life seemed determined to break her, God intervened and showed her mercy, stressing that things could have turned out far worse.

Ashabi expressed deep gratitude to God for strength and grace, as well as appreciation to her family for standing by her through difficult times and helping her avoid depression.

Reflecting on public criticism, the actress described the internet as a place where people judge others based on personal perspectives, forgetting that even if two people wear the same shoe size, it will never fit them the same way. According to her, while blame comes easily, understanding requires wisdom.

Speaking on her career journey, Ashabi revealed that she spent years working behind the scenes as a filmmaker and script supervisor before gaining recognition. She recounted enduring sleepless nights, intense brainstorming sessions, hard work and consistency, which eventually brought her name to public attention. However, a sudden change in her life pushed her into full-time acting, a transition she described as difficult.

She disclosed that she personally financed several movie projects that failed to yield expected returns, leaving her drained financially, mentally and physically, as she began to record more losses than gains.

On her personal life, Ashabi spoke candidly about being in a relationship with singer Portable, describing him as a narcissist. She said living with someone who is jealous, unpredictable and struggles with anger issues has been emotionally exhausting. According to her, she wakes up daily thinking of how best to manage the situation.

The actress noted that while love is beautiful, being with someone who sees you as a competitor or secretly resents your growth can be damaging. She added that the situation becomes even more complicated when children are involved and when one is constantly faced with conflicting advice about whether to stay or leave.

In a heartfelt prayer ahead of her new age, Ashabi asked God to begin a new phase in her life, heal her wounds and strengthen her through the physical, emotional, spiritual and financial challenges she has faced.

In a separate Instagram post, the mother of two said she has no regrets, only lessons. She added that she has handed everything over to God, trusting that whatever is meant to be will surely come to pass.

Addressing critics in another post, Ashabi urged people to stop interfering in her relationship, asking them to allow her breathe, reduce unsolicited advice and give her the space to think and decide for herself.
