Atalanta CEO, Luca Percassi, has opened the door for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman to return to the squad—if he shows the right attitude and commitment.

Lookman’s future at the Bergamo club has been in the spotlight after he pushed for a summer move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan. The 27-year-old even skipped training for two weeks, a move that left Atalanta frustrated.

Since then, the Super Eagles star has struggled to fully reintegrate with the team, with reports suggesting he hasn’t displayed the required focus in training. Head coach Ivan Juric has made it clear that he won’t beg the winger to play.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Percassi stressed that the past cannot be changed but made it clear that Atalanta will embrace Lookman once he is ready to give his best.

“You cannot go back and change the past, so we will focus on the present and future. We all know how good Ademola is, but also that in order to play for Atalanta, you must be 100 per cent focused. When he feels ready to do that, we are waiting for him with open arms,” Percassi said.

Lookman, who was a key figure in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, remains highly valued by the club—but only if he proves his dedication on and off the pitch.

With tensions easing, the big question now is whether Lookman is ready to put the transfer saga behind him and fight for his place in Atalanta’s squad.
