ATIKU ABUBAKAR URGES PRESIDENT TINUBU TO ADDRESS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIS SON, SEYI TINUBU
Former PDP Presidential Candidate Calls for Immediate Action in Light of Serious Accusations
Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on President Bola Tinubu to take swift action following serious allegations involving his son, Seyi Tinubu. These accusations, made by Atiku Isah, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), include allegations of physical assault, kidnapping, and bribery.
In a statement issued through his Media Aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku expressed deep concern over the allegations, describing them as "deeply troubling" and a significant threat to democratic principles and civil rights. He highlighted the seriousness of these claims, particularly because they involve a member of the first family.
Atiku stressed that President Tinubu must take immediate steps to control the actions of his family members, specifically his son Seyi, who is allegedly attempting to secure political loyalty for the President through intimidation, coercion, and violence. The PDP leader also warned that had the incident ended in tragedy, it would have been added to Nigeria's growing list of criminal acts.
Furthermore, Atiku raised alarm over the possibility that even high-ranking security officials could be influenced by Seyi Tinubu, calling this an "unacceptable compromise" of state institutions.
In his statement, Atiku accused the first family of attempting to subjugate civil society groups, including NANS, using "threats, bribes, and brute force." He urged Nigerians to speak out against such actions and reminded them that the presidency is a public trust, not a private inheritance.
Atiku also rejected efforts to politically link him with Atiku Isah, calling such claims "baseless, malicious, and desperate." These comments come amidst rising political tensions as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 presidential elections.
