ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has called for an urgent police investigation into an alleged attack on comedian Osagie Daniel Idedia, popularly known as Porkupyne, in Benin City.

In a post on X on Saturday, Atiku condemned the incident and claimed that the comedian was targeted because of his political support and calls for good governance in Edo State.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the brutal attack on comedian Osagie Daniel Idedia,” he said.

The former vice-president also accused President Bola Tinubu, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and the APC of fostering an atmosphere that encouraged political violence.

However, the account provided did not include evidence establishing a connection between those named and the alleged attack.

Atiku maintained that the incident was politically motivated and urged the police to establish what happened and identify those responsible.

The report did not provide details about the alleged attackers, the comedian’s condition or any arrests. It also contained no response from the Presidency, the Edo State Government, the APC or the police.

The circumstances and motive behind the alleged attack remain unverified.
