The wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said her husband is not seeking political power because of Nigerians’ wealth, but rather because he wants to contribute to the development of the country and give back to society.

She made the statement while speaking about Atiku’s political ambitions and his continued involvement in national affairs. According to her, the former Vice President has already achieved a level of personal success and does not need public office as a means of enriching himself.

She described Atiku as a man who has spent much of his life building businesses and contributing to society, adding that his interest in public service is driven by a desire to make a difference. She maintained that his political activities should therefore be viewed from the perspective of his commitment to serving Nigerians.

Her comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with Atiku and other opposition figures positioning themselves for the contest. The former Vice President has remained active in efforts to build a stronger opposition platform ahead of the election.

She further urged Nigerians to assess political leaders based on their records, ideas and plans for the country rather than assumptions about their personal motivations. She maintained that Atiku’s intention is to use his experience and resources to contribute to national development and leave a positive impact on society.
