Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying he’s thankful he never joined the cabinet because he would have either resigned or been removed quickly.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Lawal accused the government of nepotism, claiming key meetings are filled with Yoruba appointees who sometimes end discussions in their language, leaving others out.

He recalled how, during the campaign after Tinubu’s famous “emi lokan” remark, some supporters insulted northerners as illiterate, despite needing their votes.

“The problem with the Yoruba is that when you support them to win, they behave as if they have subdued you,” Lawal said.

The ex-SGF also took aim at Tinubu’s economic policies, criticizing the removal of fuel subsidies in May 2023. According to him, Nigerians have seen no benefits from the move, and the government is still secretly paying subsidies.

On politics, Lawal claimed the 2023 presidential election was rigged in favour of the APC, boldly declaring that Peter Obi was the rightful winner.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
