A violent clash between local vigilante operatives and suspected bandits in the Edogi area of Lafiagi, Kwara State, has left two people dead and several others injured.

The confrontation resulted in gunshot wounds to four individuals, including members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN): Mohammed Ndagi, Saidu Jiya, and Philips John. A passerby, Babangida Daniel, was also caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries.

All victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Lafiagi for emergency treatment. However, VGN Commander Mohammed Yatsu and Babangida Daniel were confirmed dead on arrival.

The remaining injured have been referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for further medical care.

Meanwhile, ASP Sado Sunday, who was reportedly involved in the security operation, has been declared missing. Search and rescue operations are underway.

Authorities have launched an investigation to track down the perpetrators and are working to restore peace in the community.
