BANDITS KILL SEVEN, INJURE EIGHT IN KADUNA COMMUNITY ATTACK
Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Angwan Rimi, a community in Kamaru ward of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals.
The assailants also injured eight others during the Sunday night raid, which reportedly targeted mainly women and children of Irigwe origin.
Among the deceased were Jacob Zakka (12), Felicia Francis (30), Magaret Mathias (5), Veronica Paul (25), Delight Paul (1), Confidence Yakubu (15), and Sati Markus (9).
Those who sustained injuries were identified as Mathew Sunday (14), Jethro Istafanus (7), Jackson Istafanus (5), Emmanuel Morris (14), Agatha Sylvester (9), Joy Markus (9), Divine Paul (6 months), and Mary Ishaya (12).
Reacting to the incident, the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Church Yonkpa, called on the government to take urgent steps to safeguard Irigwe communities.
“The leadership of Irigwe Youth Movement uses this medium to call on relevant authorities to intervene by making sure the lives of Irigwe people and our communities are well protected for them to freely showcase their potentials in enhancing their standards of living,” he said in a statement.
He further urged security operatives to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served to deter future attacks in the region.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansur Hassan, were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered.
