Barau Jibrin has congratulated Abba Kabir Yusuf following his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yusuf was affirmed on Thursday during a gathering held at Sani Abacha Stadium, where thousands of APC supporters from the 44 local government areas of Kano State reportedly attended despite heavy rainfall.

According to Barau, the affirmation followed procedures contained in the Electoral Act and the APC guidelines.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the senator, in which he disclosed that he moved the motion for the affirmation of the governor, while Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila seconded the motion.

Barau said the Chairman of the APC Congress Committee from the party’s national headquarters, Mukhtar Shagari, subsequently declared Yusuf as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Kano State.

He expressed confidence that residents of Kano State would renew Yusuf’s mandate during the governorship election scheduled for February 6, 2027.

The senator also expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would emerge victorious alongside APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Barau added that the party would continue working to address the challenges facing citizens and deliver greater dividends of democracy.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
