BARCELONA COMPLETE LIVAKOVIć SIGNING ON FOUR-YEAR DEAL

Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Croatia international goalkeeper Dominik Livaković from Turkish side Fenerbahçe as they strengthen their goalkeeping options ahead of the new season.

The Catalan club confirmed the arrival of the 31-year-old goalkeeper on Thursday, with Livaković signing a four-year contract that will keep him at Barcelona until June 30, 2030.

The transfer is reportedly worth an initial €2m, with a further €2m available in performance-related bonuses. The deal represents Barcelona’s latest move to reinforce a position that has undergone significant changes in recent months.

Livaković brings considerable international and club experience to Barcelona. He was one of Croatia’s key players during their run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, notably making crucial penalty-shootout saves against Japan and Brazil. He also represented Croatia at the 2026 World Cup.

The goalkeeper previously spent time in Spain with Girona, although he did not make a competitive appearance for the club. His move to Barcelona now gives him another opportunity to continue his career in La Liga.

Despite completing the transfer, Barcelona are yet to make a final decision on Livaković’s immediate role. He could remain with Hansi Flick’s squad as a back-up goalkeeper or potentially leave on loan to gain regular playing time before returning to the club.

Joan García is currently expected to remain Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper, while veteran Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny is entering the final year of his contract with the club.

Barcelona’s decision to bring Livaković in also reflects their plans for the future, with the Croatian expected to provide experience and competition between the posts as the club prepares for the seasons ahead.

For Livaković, the move represents another major step in a career that has already seen him become one of Croatia’s most recognised goalkeepers.
