BARCELONA REOPEN €80MILLION TALKS FOR OSIMHEN AMID STRIKER HUNT
Barcelona have reignited their interest in Victor Osimhen and are preparing a fresh approach for the Galatasaray striker this summer.
The Catalan club see the Nigerian international as the ideal long-term successor to veteran Robert Lewandowski, whose role is gradually being reduced, according to reports in Spain.
Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most consistent goal scorers since the 2022/23 season, when he won the Serie A title and finished as Napoli’s top scorer. Barcelona believe his combination of pace, physical strength, and clinical finishing fits perfectly with the profile their recruitment team is targeting for the next stage of their rebuild.
However, Galatasaray are in no rush to part with their most valuable asset. The Turkish champions are on track for domestic success and enjoying a strong European campaign, achievements built largely around Osimhen’s goals. Club officials are thrilled with the impact of the 27-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Juventus, and would prefer to retain him for at least another season.
Despite their desire to keep their star striker, Galatasaray have quietly set a price should Barcelona—or any other European heavyweight—push seriously for his signature. Reports indicate the Turkish side would begin negotiations around €80 million, a profit on the €75 million they paid to make his move from Napoli permanent earlier this season.
For Galatasaray, such a fee would reward Osimhen’s outstanding performances while strengthening the club’s long-term finances. For Barcelona, it would be a significant coup, securing a proven elite striker entering his prime. For Osimhen, it could offer a return to one of Europe’s biggest stages.
The Nigerian forward’s numbers continue to justify the growing interest. After scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists last season, he has maintained his prolific form this campaign despite missing time for the Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria finish third.
His Champions League performances, in particular, have enhanced his reputation across the continent, demonstrating his ability to excel at the highest level of European football.
Osimhen is contracted to Galatasaray until 2029, giving the Turkish club strong negotiating leverage, but also the flexibility to strike a deal if the right offer arrives.
