Calvin Bassey has reflected on the Super Eagles’ semi-final defeat to Morocco’s Atlas Lions, insisting that the team will give their all to secure third place.

Bassey was among Nigeria’s standout performers in Wednesday night’s loss in Rabat, successfully keeping Morocco’s key attacker, Ayoub El Kaabi, quiet throughout the match.

Despite falling short of the final, the Fulham defender expressed pride in the team’s overall performance and reiterated the squad’s determination ahead of the third-place showdown against Egypt.

“We thank God in all situations. A gutting way to end the tournament. The support and togetherness we’ve felt has been special. Sorry we couldn’t take it all the way, we fought and gave it our all. We’ll build on this. Not finished yet though, we still have something to push for,” Bassey wrote on X.

The Super Eagles will face Hossam Hassan’s Pharaohs in the third-place match at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca on Saturday. However, Bassey will miss the game due to suspension.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
