BAYELSA HEALTH COMMISSIONER STRESSES EMERGENCY TRAINING TO SAVE LIVES

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health has emphasised the importance of emergency response training, saying proper preparation and quick intervention during emergencies could help prevent avoidable deaths. The commissioner noted that health workers and other relevant personnel must be equipped with the right skills to respond effectively when faced with accidents, medical emergencies and other critical situations.

The commissioner made the remarks while highlighting the importance of strengthening emergency response capacity in the state. According to the health authorities, having trained personnel who understand how to provide immediate assistance can make a significant difference, particularly during the period between the occurrence of an emergency and the arrival of advanced medical care.

The training is expected to improve the ability of healthcare workers to identify emergencies, provide immediate first aid and take appropriate steps to stabilise patients before they are transferred for further treatment. The commissioner stressed that emergency response should not be limited to hospitals alone, as trained personnel in different settings can play an important role in helping victims receive timely assistance.

The Bayelsa Government is also expected to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services and strengthening the capacity of medical personnel across the state. The commissioner maintained that investing in the training and preparedness of health workers would contribute to better emergency management and improve outcomes for patients requiring urgent care.
