Youths in Yenagoa have taken to the streets to promote peace and support the Bayelsa State Police Command’s campaign against cultism and youth violence.

The walk, held on Saturday, began at Opolo and ended at the police command headquarters in the state capital.

Organised by Team Wulukpense in partnership with the Epie/Atissa Entertainment Forum, the event brought participants together to reject cultism and pledge cooperation with security agencies.

Carrying placards promoting non-violence, the youths called for safer communities and expressed their willingness to help curb criminal activities.

Commissioner of Police Ajao Adewale received the group and praised the organisers for encouraging young people to take an active role in community safety.

He described the walk as a demonstration of civic responsibility and a shared commitment to tackling violence.

“I commend the organisers and participants for this deliberate decision to identify with the police in the fight against cultism, criminality and youth violence,” he said.

Adewale stressed that public participation remained important to addressing insecurity, particularly offences involving young people.

The initiative highlighted the participants’ commitment to working with the police to promote peace across the state.
