BBNAIJA STAR QUEEN MERCY AND FAMILY ESCAPE TRAGEDY AS POP CEILING COLLAPSES (VIDEO)
Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has expressed immense gratitude after she and her family narrowly avoided a life-threatening accident when the POP ceiling in her living room collapsed.
In a video shared by Queen Mercy, she revealed that her younger sister and nanny were in the living room sewing when the ceiling caved in, forcing them to flee in panic.
Recalling the frightening incident, Queen Mercy said her mother ran to her room to inform her of what had happened. She admitted she was initially terrified, but relief washed over her upon learning that her sister and nanny were unharmed.
This marks the second time a POP ceiling has caused concern in her home; just a few weeks ago, the garage ceiling also collapsed.
Queen Mercy recounted the ordeal in detail:
“At 7:58 a.m., God said, not this family. I had worked late into the night and had just returned from the airport after picking up my girl for her Guinness World Record project. Because of the tight schedule, we had been shooting all night. I got home around 4 a.m., and my younger sister was still sewing.
I had asked my workers to stay in the sitting room and leave in the morning. While one of them left, I persuaded my girl to remain for safety reasons. By 6 a.m., she had left, but my sister and nanny were still sewing in the sitting room. Thankfully, they didn’t fall asleep there today.
Suddenly, the ceiling collapsed, and they had to run for their lives. When my mother rushed in to tell me, my first question was about my sister and nanny. She assured me they were safe upstairs, and I immediately felt relieved.
A few weeks ago, it was the garage POP that fell. This morning, it was the sitting room. Amid all this, I am coordinating my girl’s Guinness World Record project starting Friday, planning how to relocate my family safely while ensuring the project is successful.
Lord, I am grateful for Your protection and love.”

This incident adds to a growing list of similar experiences among celebrities in recent years. In October, actress Nkechi Blessing survived a POP ceiling collapse in her Lekki home. In June, Bolaji Ogunmola recounted surviving both a car accident and a living room POP collapse.
BBNaija “Level Up” housemate Chichi also avoided tragedy when her bedroom ceiling collapsed near her bed, while skitmaker Zics Aloma had a similar close call when his living room POP fell while he was asleep.
Other celebrities, including Ruth Eze and Charles Inojie, have also shared experiences of narrowly escaping harm after POP ceilings collapsed in their homes. These incidents highlight the unpredictable dangers posed by faulty ceilings, prompting gratitude and caution among those affected.
