BBN'S QUEEN EXPLAINS DELETING WEDDING PHOTOS: "MANY WOMEN SLIDE INTO MY HUSBAND’S DM"

Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has revealed why she removed her wedding photos and her husband’s name from her Instagram page and bio.

In a video shared online, Queen explained that she chose to take her marriage to David Oyekanmi off social media in order to maintain their privacy. She disclosed that her husband's Instagram account was attracting unsolicited messages from women, both positive and negative.

“I simply wanted to take my relationship off social media,” she said. “Because my husband’s account is public, a lot of women feel compelled to slide into his DMs with all kinds of messages.”

Queen further stated that she was influenced by other celebrities who prefer to keep their spouses and personal relationships private. Although the wedding pictures and her husband’s name have since been restored on her page, Queen’s video sheds light on her initial reasoning.

Speculation of trouble in her marriage first arose in October 2024 when she quietly took down the wedding content, just months after their ceremony in March.

On a separate note, Queen recently voiced her frustration over Instagram’s moderation policies. She questioned the fairness of penalizing public figures who respond to online trolls. In a post tagging Instagram, Queen shared a screenshot of a negative comment left on a video where she was dancing. She noted that after checking the troll’s page, she found the person guilty of the very behavior she criticized.

“It really feels unfair that trolls can come to someone’s page and post hateful comments, yet if we respond, we get banned,” Queen wrote.

She added, “A woman made a remark about me twerking, so I checked her profile… and the irony was glaring. Many people judge others harshly while engaging in worse themselves.” Queen expressed her frustration about not being able to reply freely due to her account already being shadowbanned and warned by the platform.

“I wish I could say what I really want to this young lady, but I can’t afford to get banned,” she said. “So instead, I’ll just say this — go take care of yourself.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
