BEN MURRAY-BRUCE, 46 OTHERS DISQUALIFIED FROM APC SENATORIAL RACE
The All Progressives Congress has released the names of 47 senatorial aspirants who failed to secure clearance to participate in the party’s Senate primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the statement, the screening exercise was conducted by the APC Screening Committees in line with the party’s procedures and guidelines.
Among the notable aspirants disqualified is former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, alongside Benson Agadaga, who also sought to contest the district’s ticket.
Rivers West Senatorial District recorded the highest number of disqualified aspirants, with four names listed, Oyukaye Flag Amachree, Tamunobaabo Wemike Danagogo, Jack-Rich Tein, and Banigo Ipalibo.
Zamfara State also had seven aspirants across its Central, North, and West districts disqualified from the screening exercise.
The APC, however, did not state the reasons for the disqualification of the affected aspirants.
The affected aspirants are spread across several states including Adamawa, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, the Federal Capital Territory, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
In Oyo State, those disqualified include Ademola Wasiu Alli for Oyo Central, Ajimobi Wasiu Adegboyega for Oyo North, Kolapoboye Kola Daisi for Oyo South, Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen for Oyo Central, Hameed Afeez Repete for Oyo Central, and Akinremi Alade Bolaji for Oyo South.
In Rivers State, Barry Balera Mwara was also disqualified for the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
The development comes as political parties intensify their internal processes and primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
