A well-known bandit leader in the Sankera axis of Benue State, Terhemen Mzaga Ber Gile, popularly known as “Fullfire,” has publicly denied rumours of planning a revenge attack on the Ityuluv community or his brother, Judex, also known as “Chen Hobbo.”

In a post shared on social media, Fullfire described the claims as false and harmful, stating that he has no issues with anyone in Ityuluv or with his brother.

“It breaks my heart to know our people are living in fear because of baseless rumours,” he wrote. “I am not planning any attack. I have no desire to fight or retaliate. Mo or hiin ga (I won’t do such).”

The tension reportedly arose after a recent vehicle-related incident, which Fullfire called an “unfortunate accident.” Grateful for surviving it, he said, “I trust that the same God who allowed it will bless me with something better.”

In a surprising move toward reconciliation, he extended a hand of peace to his brother Judex and urged unity among Tiv youths, especially in the face of external threats.

“If the issue is about leadership, I’m willing to step aside. Let there be respect for age and tradition. I surrender if that will bring peace,” he said.

Fullfire also criticized some local politicians, accusing them of exploiting youth rivalries to further their personal agendas despite lacking real political relevance.

“These same people causing division can’t even win councillorship elections, yet they stir up conflicts to use us,” he stated.

He called on the youths to reject violence and choose peace, encouraging open dialogue and understanding instead of conflict.

“To everyone in our community, I say this: if you come to our meetings with peace in your heart, you will be safe. Most misunderstandings happen when people don’t talk,” he said.

Fullfire’s public message appears to be an attempt to ease growing tensions in the Sankera area and encourage a new path forward rooted in unity, tradition, and communication.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
