Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Titus Uba, and 36 other aspirants have obtained nomination forms for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 State Assembly elections.

The aspirants picked up their forms on Thursday at the PDP secretariat in Makurdi, signalling strong interest in the forthcoming polls.

Hon. Titus Uba, who represented Kyan State Constituency, is seeking re-election into the assembly. His return to active politics has drawn attention, with many party members viewing him as a strong and experienced leader.

The large number of aspirants reflects the PDP’s continued influence in Benue State. Party officials described the turnout as encouraging and a sign of healthy internal democracy.

Speaking after collecting his form, Hon. Titus Uba said his decision was driven by the desire to continue serving his constituents and contributing to the development of the state. He called on party members to remain united and focused on winning the 2027 elections.

The PDP State Chairman assured all aspirants of a fair and credible primary process. He warned against any form of misconduct and urged them to conduct clean campaigns.

Benue remains a key state in the North-Central region, and the PDP is determined to maintain its hold on the state assembly. The successful sale of forms to 37 aspirants is seen as a positive start to the party’s preparation for the polls.

More aspirants are still expected to obtain their nomination forms in the coming days as the deadline approaches. The PDP primaries in Benue are expected to be keenly contested.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
