BENUE MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING MOTHER TO DEATH DURING HEATED ARGUMENT
The Benue State Police Command has arrested a man, Torngusha Usuwe, in connection with the alleged murder of his mother during a domestic dispute in Gungul Village, Ukum Local Government Area.
According to a report shared on X by counter-insurgency expert Makama Zagazola, the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., during a heated argument between the suspect and his mother.
Usuwe allegedly struck his mother on the left side of her jaw with a stick, causing a severe fracture that led to heavy bleeding from her mouth and ear.
She was rushed to Zege Nyion Clinic in Gungul for emergency medical care but was pronounced dead around 8:00 p.m. that evening.
Following a report from a relative, Terwase Usuwe, police detectives arrived at the scene, documented the body, and transported it to the Gungul Memory Integrated Morgue for autopsy.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
Attempts to get a response from the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as of press time.
