BENUE PDP GOV CANDIDATE, AONDOAKAA, PICKS 38-YEAR-OLD AS RUNNING MATE
Benue State PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Titus Aondoakaa, has selected a 38-year-old as his running mate for the 2027 election.
Aondoakaa announced the choice of Engr. Terhemen Tarhule as his deputy governorship candidate on Friday in Makurdi. Tarhule, an engineer by profession, is expected to bring youth representation and technical expertise to the ticket.
Speaking during the announcement, Aondoakaa said the decision was made after wide consultations with party stakeholders. He described Tarhule as a young, vibrant, and competent leader who understands the challenges facing Benue youths and the state at large.
“We have chosen a young, energetic, and visionary partner to run with us. This is a clear signal that we are ready to bring fresh ideas and energy into governance,” Aondoakaa said.
Engr. Terhemen Tarhule, who will be 38 years old by the time of the election, thanked the PDP candidate for the opportunity and pledged to work closely with him to deliver good governance if elected.
The choice of a relatively young running mate is being viewed as a strategic move by the PDP to appeal to the large youth population in Benue State. Political observers say it could help the party counter the narrative of recycling old politicians.
The PDP in Benue remains confident of winning the 2027 governorship election. With Aondoakaa as the candidate and Tarhule as running mate, the party says it is fully prepared for the polls.
The development has generated mixed reactions among residents, with many welcoming the inclusion of a younger person on the ticket.
