Breaking: Senate Advances Bill for Early Voting in Nigeria’s Elections 🗳️🔥

A game-changing bill that could reshape Nigeria’s electoral process has just passed its second reading in the Senate!

The proposed amendment to the Electoral Act No. 13, 2022, sponsored by Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua (APC-Katsina), seeks to introduce early voting—a move aimed at ensuring that Nigerians who serve on Election Day, such as INEC officials, security personnel, journalists, and observers, are not denied their right to vote.

📢 Why This Matters:
Currently, over one million Nigerians involved in election logistics are unable to vote because they are deployed away from their registered polling units. This bill aims to correct that by enhancing voter inclusivity and strengthening electoral integrity.

Supporters, including Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (APC-Ondo) and Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro, hailed it as a step toward a fairer and more transparent democracy.

💡 What’s Next?
The bill has now been referred to the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters for further review, with a report expected in four weeks.

Is early voting a game-changer for Nigeria’s democracy? Drop your thoughts! ⬇️
