Bitget, a prominent player in the cryptocurrency and Web3 space, has unveiled the world’s first Real-World Asset (RWA) Index Perpetual Contract, enabling users to trade tokenised traditional assets like Tesla, Nvidia, and Circle.

According to a statement released on Sunday, this innovative product recently went live and represents a significant move toward integrating traditional financial instruments with decentralised finance (DeFi). The RWA Index Perpetual Contract is based on a composite of tokenised stock indices that are already active in the market, each comprising one or more RWA tokens issued by third-party providers.

Bitget noted that the index's flexible structure allows for the dynamic addition or removal of index components based on market factors such as trading activity, liquidity, and volume. The platform emphasised that this design promotes transparency and fairness in pricing.

“The industry’s first RWA Index Perpetual Contract offers a fresh way for traders to access tokenised versions of traditional assets,” the company stated, highlighting that the initial offerings will include TSLAUSDT, NVDAUSDT, and CRCLUSDT. The contract is structured to operate on a 5-day, 24-hour trading schedule, pausing on weekends and during stock market holidays. During these downtimes, prices will be frozen to prevent forced liquidations, although users can still add margin or cancel pending orders. Funding fees will also be suspended during these periods and resume once trading is live again.

To enhance risk management, Bitget has limited leverage to 10x, restricted the contract to isolated margin mode, and implemented position limits across its platform. The new contracts will follow the same operational and liquidation processes as existing cryptocurrency perpetuals, which is intended to ease user adaptation.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, described the rollout as a breakthrough in modern finance.

“With the launch of the world’s first RWA Index Perpetual Contract, we’re steadily progressing toward a financial ecosystem that merges both traditional and decentralised elements. This innovation distinguishes Bitget as a forward-thinking platform, providing users with broader access to both conventional and modern asset classes,” Chen said.

At its initial launch phase, Bitget’s index pricing will be sourced from stock tokens issued on the xStocks platform, with additional trusted issuers expected to be integrated soon. The company also revealed plans to expand its offerings to include more RWA perpetual contracts on Bitget Futures later in the quarter.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
