Controversial relationship influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has reacted to reports surrounding the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, who was said to have passed away after battling stage 4 liver cancer.

According to reports, the actor died on Monday at a hospital in Lagos following a prolonged illness that had kept him away from public appearances for some time.

Reacting on her Instagram page, Blessing CEO expressed grief over the development, sharing a photo of the late actor alongside an emotional message condemning the disease believed to have claimed his life.

She wrote: “God will punish cancer. We waited for you to show up. You fought silently. Rest in peace.”

Her message quickly drew attention online, not only because of the tribute but also due to its connection to her past public statements about her own alleged battle with stage 4 cancer.

In March 2026, Blessing CEO had claimed she was undergoing chemotherapy for stage 4 breast cancer and appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance, sharing documents she said were medical reports supporting her condition.

However, the claims later sparked controversy after the Nigerian Medical Association in Delta State reportedly questioned the authenticity of the documents, alleging that a medical report had been altered. The report was said to have originated from Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by consultant pathologist Dr. O.A. Odigwe.

The allegations led to widespread debate on social media, with critics demanding clarification over the validity of the documents and raising concerns about the misuse of medical records.

Following the controversy, social media activist VeryDarkMan reportedly petitioned the Nigeria Police Force, calling for an official investigation into the matter. The petition was later said to have been approved by the Inspector-General of Police, further intensifying public scrutiny.

The incident sparked heated discussions online at the time, dividing opinions between supporters who expressed sympathy and critics who questioned the credibility of her claims.

Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in for Alex Ekubo, with colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry mourning his passing and celebrating his impact on Nollywood.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
