BOLA TINUBU URGES NRS TO BUILD TRUST THROUGH ACCOUNTABILITY
President Bola Tinubu has charged the Nigeria Revenue Service to earn Nigerians’ trust by promoting fairness, transparency, and accountability in its operations.
Speaking at the inauguration of the agency’s new headquarters in Abuja, Tinubu emphasised the need for the Service to demonstrate that government institutions can be responsive and credible.
The NRS, formerly the Federal Inland Revenue Service, was established under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025 as part of broader fiscal reforms.
Its expanded mandate now includes not only tax collection but also coordination of non-tax revenue, compliance, and improved service delivery.
The Executive Chairman of the agency, Zacch Adedeji, described the new headquarters, which can accommodate over 3,000 staff, as a major step toward modernising Nigeria’s revenue system.
The event was attended by key government officials, including Godswill Akpabio and Abbas Tajudeen, highlighting the significance of the reform initiative.
