BONIFACE DROPS STRONG MESSAGE AFTER NIGERIA DRAW RUSSIA
Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has sparked speculation about an early retirement from international football following a cryptic Instagram post.
The post came shortly after Nigeria played out a 1-1 draw with Russia in a friendly match held in Moscow.
Boniface was on the pitch for 61 minutes before being substituted by Tolu Arokodare, who later netted the equalizer for Nigeria. In his caption, Boniface expressed appreciation for his experiences with the national team, writing:
“Proud to represent my country — it’s been a dream come true. I’ve cherished every moment, both the highs and the lows. Thank you all. I don hang boot.” The Bayer Leverkusen striker, however, deleted the post minutes after sharing it.
Boniface, 24, made his debut for Nigeria in September 2023 against São Tomé and Príncipe but has yet to register a goal for the Super Eagles.
