The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Borno has joined solidarity rallies in response to increasing cases of school abductions and attacks on educational institutions in the state.

Teachers and education stakeholders staged peaceful demonstrations to express concern over the safety of students and school personnel, calling for urgent government intervention to address the growing insecurity affecting the education sector.

According to the union, repeated incidents of abductions have disrupted learning activities and created fear among teachers, students, and parents across affected communities.

The NUT urged security agencies and government authorities to intensify protection around schools, particularly in high-risk areas, to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.

Education stakeholders also called for improved early warning systems, community engagement, and rapid response mechanisms to prevent further attacks.

The union emphasized that safe learning environments are essential for rebuilding confidence in the education system in Borno.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response, but security operations are expected to continue in affected regions.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
