BRAIN JOTTER CRIES OUT AFTER ALLEGED HARASSMENT BY LAGOS AREA BOYS
Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Chukwuebuka Amuzie, popularly known as Brain Jotter, has raised concerns after allegedly being harassed by suspected area boys while driving in Lagos.
The comedian shared a video of the incident on his Instagram page, showing a group of men confronting him on a Lagos road and reportedly demanding money before allowing him to continue his journey.
Brain Jotter accompanied the video with a sarcastic caption describing the men as “Nigerian zoo keepers” and comparing the incident to a lion escaping from a zoo.
The incident has renewed concerns over alleged harassment and extortion by area boys and street touts, commonly referred to as agberos, across parts of Lagos.
The comedian’s experience comes shortly after Saltiana, the younger sister of Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr, reportedly alleged that suspected area boys damaged her vehicle after mistaking her for the singer and demanding money.
Medical doctor Olusina Ajidahun, popularly known as The Bearded Sina, and music video director TG Omori have also previously spoken about alleged extortion and threats by street touts while carrying out professional activities in Lagos.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has previously said the government has continued efforts to arrest and remove street urchins from the streets.
However, he noted that financial handouts from celebrities, influencers and members of the public could encourage touts to continue viewing the streets as a source of income.
Brain Jotter’s latest experience has once again drawn attention to concerns over alleged extortion, harassment and intimidation of motorists and residents by street touts in different parts of Lagos.
