Suspected bandits launched a violent attack on the Zagami community in Yankara Ward, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Wednesday night, leaving several people dead and many others, including women and children, abducted.

According to a Thursday post by security analyst Bakatsine on X (formerly Twitter), the attackers stormed the village around 8 p.m., firing indiscriminately at residents.

During the assault, a three-day-old infant was reportedly killed, and the child’s mother taken away by the gunmen.

While the full number of casualties and abductees remains uncertain, locals described the incident as one of the most devastating they’ve experienced in recent times.

As of now, authorities have not released an official statement. Meanwhile, community members are pleading for immediate security intervention to prevent further violence.
