BREAKING: JAMB STARTS RESCHEDULING 2025 UTME EXAMS
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has started rescheduling the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates affected by a technical malfunction.
The rescheduling process began on Thursday, May 15, and involves 379,997 candidates nationwide.
This action follows JAMB’s announcement on Wednesday, May 14, revealing that the recently released UTME results were compromised by major system errors.
Speaking to the press in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede admitted to the error and accepted full responsibility.
“We regret the inconvenience this has caused to our candidates and the nation. I am taking full responsibility for the damage,” Oloyede stated.
The rescheduled exams are set for Friday and Saturday, starting with candidates from the five Southeastern states and Lagos State.
“The affected candidates will start getting text messages for reschedule starting from tomorrow,” the registrar confirmed.
JAMB has assured Nigerians that the rescheduling process is being managed promptly and transparently.
Affected candidates are receiving individual notifications via SMS, providing details about their new exam dates and locations.
JAMB has urged candidates to stay calm and carefully follow the instructions provided in their notifications. The board also pledged to conduct the rescheduled exams under enhanced supervision to prevent similar issues from happening again.
The technical glitch has sparked nationwide concerns about the reliability of Nigeria’s crucial examination systems. However, JAMB assures that it is putting in place extra security measures to strengthen the process moving forward.
This rescheduling represents one of the largest exam retakes in JAMB’s history and is considered an essential measure to uphold the integrity of the 2025 UTME.
