The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), revealed on Thursday at a stakeholders’ forum in Ikeja that the Labour Party in Lagos is divided into three factions.

She stated that all three factions have invited LASIEC to monitor their primaries ahead of the upcoming July 12 local government elections in the state.

“Three factions of the Labour Party in Lagos invited us to observe their primaries,” the chairman said.

She explained that LASIEC officials declined to attend the primaries because of the apparent divisions within the party.

Ighile added that the state electoral commission would await guidance from the Independent National Electoral Commission before deciding on the next course of action regarding the Labour Party’s situation.
