The 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) nomination list is out, and Nigerian stars have once again taken center stage.

Burna Boy and Davido lead the pack with five nominations each, securing spots in top categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration. Burna Boy’s “No Sign of Weakness” and Davido’s chart-topping album “5ive” are both in the running for Album of the Year.

Joining them at the top is South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa, who also bagged five nominations, including Best African DJ. Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto matched their streak with five nods, thanks to his hits “Salgoat” and “Diplomatico”.

Nigeria’s street-pop sensation, Shallipopi, continued his meteoric rise with four nominations, including Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year. East African powerhouse Diamond Platnumz and South African singer Tyla also earned four nominations each.

Tanzanian star Juma Jux landed three nominations, with his soulful hit “Ololufe Mi” making it into Song of the Year. Nigerian young superstars Rema and Ayra Starr also secured three nominations each, cementing their places among Africa’s biggest exports.

This year’s AFRIMA promises to be one of the most competitive yet, as the best of Africa’s music scene go head-to-head. Nigeria will host the prestigious awards in 2025, making it an even bigger celebration for the country’s music industry.
