CARDI B CLEARED OF ASSAULT IN $24M LAWSUIT AFTER JURY RULING
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has been cleared of all assault allegations in a $24 million civil lawsuit, following a decisive ruling by a Los Angeles jury on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The case was filed by former security guard, Emani Ellis, who alleged that Cardi B attacked her during an incident in 2018 outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office. Ellis claimed the rapper, who was pregnant at the time, scratched her face, spat on her, and used racial slurs.
Taking the stand last week, Cardi B — whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar Cephus — strongly denied the accusations, insisting that the encounter was only verbal. She explained that her anger was triggered after Ellis allegedly filmed her without consent during a private medical appointment.
Her defense was backed by testimonies from witnesses, including a receptionist and a doctor who were present at the clinic. Both stated that they saw no signs of physical assault.
After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury unanimously ruled in Cardi B’s favor, finding her not liable for any of the alleged actions.
Speaking outside the courthouse, the rapper expressed relief over the outcome and condemned false claims.
“Even if I’m on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do,” she said firmly.
The ruling brings an end to a years-long legal battle that had placed Cardi B under public scrutiny — with the rapper now walking free of all charges.
